Cape Peninsula hosts first event on the 2026 SA Junior Surf Tour from Friday to Sunday

Over 100 surfers in the U12 to U18 Divisions will compete in the 2026 O’ Neill Coldwater Classic presented by Sea Harvest, somewhere in the Cape Peninsula from this Friday to Sunday.

(February 20th to 22nd)

This event is the first of six that will make up the 2026 SA Junior Surf Tour and is unique in that the venue is mobile, meaning that the best surfing conditions will decide the venue each day.

The O’Neill Coldwater Classic presented by Sea Harvest and supported by Lifestyle Surf Shop, will showcase the skills of South Africa’s best girls and boys in the U12, U14, U16 and U18 Divisions. Surfers in the finals of each division will be competing for a share of the R35000 prize money while all the competitors will be awarded ratings points on the SAST.

In addition, the U18 Boys and Girl winners will each win an extra R10000, courtesy of Muizenberg based Lifestyle Surf Shop.

The unique mobile event format could see the contest taking place somewhere in the Southern Peninsula or at a venue up the West Coast. The official Opening Function which will take place tomorrow evening (Thursday February 19th) at Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie at 6.30pm. All event information, including possible venues for all three days of competition will be announced at this Opening Function. All athletes, family and friends are invited to attend this Opening Function.

The Opening function will also honour the individual 2025 SAST girls and boys Champions in each of the four divisions that make up the SA Junior Surf Tour.

The event heat draw is available on https:// liveheats.com/events/476121. An official venue call will be made at 5.30am on each day of competition and will be posted on the SAST 2026 WhatsApp group.

The contest will get under way at 9am and at 8am on Saturday and Sunday.
