SURF COACHING COURSES
The Level 1 Surf Coaching Courses are presented by Surfing South Africa under licence to the International Surfing Association
Surfing South Africa is the recognized governing body for the sport of surfriding in South Africa and is a member of the International Surfing Association.
Surfing South Africa holds the license to present the International Surfing Association (ISA) Surf Courses in South Africa.
Course details and important information
In order to become an accredited surf coach you will need to complete the following:
- Submit a current VALID Lifesaving or Water Safety certificate PRIOR to being able to attend the course (SURFING SOUTH AFRICA DOES NOT RUN LIFESAVING OR WATER SAFETY COURSES. PLEASE CONTACT LIFESAVING SA OR THE NSRI TO COMPLETE THESE REQUIREMENTS).
- Supply a letter from an accredited Surf School or accredited Coach confirming that you have completed at least 20hrs of beginner surf coaching.
- This letter must be submitted PRIOR to attending the course.
- Complete the 2 day course with an accredited Surfing South Africa presenter.
- Submit homework assignments as required
- Complete the practical assessment
NB
SSA will only be able to present a surf coaching course if there are FIVE or more delegates who have confirmed and who have paid the R2750 deposit required to attend the course.

The following documentation must be submitted to surfcoachingcourses@gmail.com at least 7 days prior to the start of the course.
- Completed registration form.
- Valid Lifesaving or Water Safety certificate.
- Proof of payment.
- Completed homework as requested.
- Proof of 20hrs of beginner surf coaching
COURSE FEES
R5 750.00 made up of an ISA fee of R3000.00 and the SSA course fee of R2 750.00
A minimum deposit of R2 750 must to be paid to Surfing South Africa at least 7 days prior to the start of the course.
This minimum payment of R2 750 guarantees attendance on the course.

After successfully completing the ISA Level 1 Surf Coaching course you are entitled to ISA Accreditation and an ISA Certificate. To acquire this accreditation you are required to pay the R3000 (150$) fee to the International Surfing Association who will issue your ISA Certificate electronically and list you as a Coach on the their website, www.isurf.org
To facilitate the process candidates should pay the R2750 ISA fee to Surfing South Africa who will make the FOREX payment to the ISA on their behalf and will handle the accreditation process.
The ISA Certification is valid for 12 months only. It is your responsibility (not SSA’s responsibility) for you to renew your accreditation in the anniversary month stated on your certificate. Renewal is 100$ (R2000)
The course material may only be used by an accredited Surfing South Africa presenter. It is of international surf instructing standards and is based on 25 years of research and experience.
The course is recommended for surf school owners and surf coaches who wish to be professionally accredited. It is an individual accreditation.

PAYMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS
The minimum deposit of R2 750 must be paid by EFT to SSA at least 7 days before the course starts to secure a place on the Course.
PLEASE ADD R100 TO THE R2 750 IF YOU MAKE A CASH DEPOSIT AT THE BANK TO COVER CASH DEPOSIT FEES CHARGED BY THE BANK.
No cash will be accepted by the Course presenter or an SSA official on the day of the Course
