Seal Point, Cape St Francis – The upcoming Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point is the final event in the five-part Rip Curl GromSearch series. This has taken place at various locations along the South African coastline this year. This right-hand point break in Cape St Francis is the popular venue for this tournament. It is a full three days of surfing with maximum entries. So, t he competition runs from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 22.

The Venue, Seal Point

One of the premier right-hand point breaks in the Eastern Cape, Seal Point has been home to many Rip Curl GromSearch finals and other national events over the years. The break is maintained by the Seal Point Boardriders Club. It is an active organisation that holds numerous club contests and functions throughout the year. It is a high-performance wave. Also, it is a perfect canvas for the best junior surfers in the country to strut their stuff. The forecast for great waves over the contest weekend at this early stage looks promising.

Rip Curl GromSearch Global Finals

The U16 Division is the Premier Division for this series, and the U16 Boys and Girls winners will also win an entry into the Rip Curl GromSearch Global Finals, which will be held in Indonesia in November. Ratings are taken on the best four out of five event results.

In addition to these entry slots, they will win R20k travel vouchers to attend this event as part of a sponsorship partnership with Rip Curl, Zigzag Magazine, Royal St Andrews Hotel and Sea Harvest.

The Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point will have a live feed in collaboration with SuperSport Schools. So, to watch the live feed, download the SuperSport Schools app and register beforehand. Thus, it is simple, and they already have over one million registered users.

The Rip Curl GromSearch also serves as the final event of the SA Surf Tour (SAST), and the series winners will be announced at this event. SAST ratings are based on the best six out of nine event results.

SA Junior Champs

After the Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point, we prepare for the SA Junior Surfing Championships at Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay (25-29 September). Close to 200 junior surfers and their managers and coaches will descend on Lower Point for the biggest junior event of the year.

TCS WiFi

TCS Wi-Fi will supply free high-speed Internet for competitors and spectators. TCS Wi-Fi is a staunch supporter of surfing in South Africa and has provided free WiFi for the event for four years and counting, and their support is greatly appreciated.

High-resolution images are available at no cost for media outlets. The daily images will be set up on Google Drive and downloadable by competitors and media outlets.
