Saturday September 28th – The 2019 Sea Harvest SA Junior Surfing Championships supported by Sport and Recreation and powered by TCS – WiFi will be concluded at Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay tomorrow (Sunday).
After four long days and 104 heats have been completed there are just 20 heats to be run and eight of these are the eight division finals.
Although conditions at the famous surf spot have not been ideal over the past four days, competing in the annual National Junior Championships in Jeffreys Bay is always special and the 250 boys and girls from eight Districts who competed at the tournament will return home with great memories.
Thundershowers are expected to arrive in Jeffreys Bay tomorrow afternoon and organisers have decided to start the contest at 7am in order to complete the finals and the award ceremony before the rain arrives.
Eight champions will be crowned, the District with the highest score will be awarded the coveted Freedom Cup and the team that has displayed the best spirit over the five days of competition will take home the Loud and Proud Team Spirit Trophy.
Cape Town Surfriders are the defending Freedom Cup champions and with 13 surfers left competing on the final day are in pole position. Buffalo City Surfriders have 10 surfers left in the event and last year’s runners up, eThekweni Surfriders have eight surfers still in the contest.

The Sea Harvest SA Surfing Championships is a premier Surfing South Africa tournament.
